"Only in Theaters" is a captivating chronicle of the Laemmle family's journey through a series of trials, setbacks, and ultimate victories as they navigate the ups and downs of owning a movie theater chain in Los Angeles. This remarkable documentary offers a fascinating glimpse into the quintessential American dream and the resilience required to endure challenging times. Can the Laemmles overcome the obstacles before them? To uncover the answer, one must simply watch and find out for themselves!

It's....well, to be completely honest, it's a very interesting subject that was wasted in the hands of the documentarian. I was enthusiastically eager to watch this but it left me feeling taken for granted. It was as if the documentarians expected the topic itslef to carry the load and they didn't need to work very hard. It struck me as afamily home movie for the Laemmle's rather than a thought provoking investigation of the struggles faced by the cinema chain. Shame. I won't tell you to skip it but I can't recommend it to you either.
